Isaiah 54:17

Pastor George Dix began his sermon with a moment of silence in honor of the victims and the families of the Monday, April 16th, 2007 tragedy at Virginia Tech. Pastor George also compelled PASSAGE partners to "become our brother's keeper" by praying for them and the trials that they face. When we position ourselves to hear a Word from God, we become sensitive to the needs of others. Therefore when we stand on the Word of God, we're standing on a solid foundation. The converse of that is, if we're not standing on the Word of God, we're not standing on much at all.

God's word is settled (established and sure) in Heaven, and when we apply the word in our daily lives, we discover that God NEVER fails! His word is infallible (never fails), immutable (never changes), inerrant (always true).

As believers we must remember,

  • "Heaven and Earth shall pass away, but my Word shall stand forever." - Matthew 24:35"
  • "But the word of the Lord endureth for ever. And this is the word which by the gospel is preached unto you." - 1 Peter 1:25
  • "I am not ashamed of the Gospel of Jesus Christ..." - Romans 1:16

As we prepare for battle, we must be aware that there two weapons (tools) that Satan uses against us:

  1. Ignorance of God's Word
  2. Fear of standing on God's Word.

We must never forget that God's word is our Sword, and that God's Word stands by itself.

In closing, Pastor Dix shared three key reasons not to worry:

  1. God is alive in well, and He has it in control anyway ("Don't Worry! Be Happy!") - Revelation 1:8,18
  2. In due time, if you faint not, God is going to reveal His hand. - Galatians 6:9
  3. Fear, Doubt and Disbelief will NEVER get you the Victory. - Psalm 23:4

Lastly, Pastor George reminded the congregation that God has never lost a battle. (Psalm 46:1-5)
