When we read God’s word we must engage our listening to hear exactly what it is speaking to us. When God used Moses as His messenger, it was unfortunate that the people didn’t want to what Moses had to say. It was their unbelief that prompted God to speak in a clarion (powerful) voice that left those in the camp trembling (Exodus 19:16). As we hear God’s word, whether it delivered by during a weeknight service, Sunday morning worship, or is read straight from the bible, we should not allow God’s life-changing word to fall by the wayside, on stony ground or on thorny ground. If we allow the Word to do any of the above, we are immanent danger of becoming one of Satan’s targets to devour. Instead, it should be every believer’s goal to allow the word to fall on good soil and revolutionize our lives. In closing, Pastor Dix said when God makes a clarion call from this point forward, we we must do the following:
“Don’t read between the lines---read the lines. Get to the point of saying ‘Lord speak to me and when you do, I will listen.’”’ - Pastor George Dix, Jr. |
