![]() Parents of the Daughters of Destiny placing a ring on their finger that read “I’ll wait.” The program’s visionary, first lady, Michele Dix, presented the Words of commitment to the Daughters of Destiny (ages 13-17) as they publicly declared their commitment to celibacy until marriage as their parents, facilitators and peers watched and celebrated. Parents and guardians of J.E.W.E.L.S. (ages 6-12) presented their daughters with bracelets and necklaces that read “purity.” Parents of the Daughters of Destiny, helped to seal their daughter’s commitment by placing a ring on their finger that read “I’ll wait.” Following the ceremony, a reception was held in the fellowship hall. The eight-week program was under the leadership of Jasmine Crenshaw who presented certificates of completion. The curriculum focuses on purity through the mind, body, and spirit. The mind: Features key discussions about how outside influences through music, television, internet, and other media sources affect our daily decisions. The body: Features discussions about inappropriate touching, addressing peer pressure from sex, physical temptations and influences made from outward appearances (choice in attire). Starting in October 2009, monthly meetings will take place with the parents and participants to follow up their progress. The girls can communicate personal questions and comments through the program's email address, This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it , so that program facilitators may continue mentoring and teaching the young ladies one-on-one.Lady Michele Dix said she is excited about the success of the program and looks forward to the next session, where J.E.W.E.L.S. will be promoted to Daughters of Destiny and new girls will pledge to remain pure until marriage. “When girls understand the true essence of their being from a biblical perspective, then God is honored,” Dix said. “Young ladies need to hear how valuable and precious they are from their church leaders.” The next Vow of Purity session starts June 2010 where a curriculum for boys will be implemented. The program is open to the public. For more information about PASSAGE Family Church Vow of Purity Program, call 352/336-8686 |
