Project Rescue Jesus! - Mission to New Orleans

Sunday, October 22nd, 2006 marked the launching of our Global Missions Ministry with PROJECT RESCUE JESUS. A team of seven PASSAGE partners participated in the first mission's trip to the 9th Ward of New Orleans, Louisiana.

Under the direction of Pastor Johnny Boswell, the Global Missions team members were Pastor Alvin Gaither, Minister Lionel Walker, Minister Kendra Riley, James Flowers, Theresa Corretjer, and Minister Gerald Chism.

The Team worked feverishly as they reconstructed homes and blessed families in New Orleans. The team's original plan was to assist two families and Pastor Troy Lawrence of Reaping the Harvest Full Gospel Baptist Church. However, the team assisted Pastor Lawrence and five families, one of which lost four family members.

The team met Pete, a retired electrician. Pete supervised the team wiring homes. Pete was so touched by the lives of the team members that his life was forever changed.

Pastor Lawrence was delighted at the team member's commitment to obey the voice of God and assist him and his congregation in rebuilding their church. He was so impressed by their service that he plans to travel to PASSAGE Family Church.

The Global Missions Ministry plans to take a second trip with PASSAGE youth in the Summer of 2007.
