Matthew 17:14-20a, 21:22
Pastor George Dix Jr. encouraged the congregation that whatever God says, we can 'bank' on it. God's word is true, no matter what. When the spirit of unbelief is prevalent in our lives, it causes us to look at the miracles in the Bible, the miracles in our lives, and the miracles in the lives of others and not believe. When we face troubles and chaos, unbelief is what causes us to become discouraged. Unbelief is Satan's greatest weapon.
As wise warriors, we need to know Satan's tactics and plans. He is conniving, decieving and he is a LIAR! We must understand that we have ALL POWER because our Father gave it to Jesus, and Jesus passed it on to us. When we face adversity, we must speak God's word against the enemy.
Every week, month and year we should receive the word just as it is. There are some things we just can't get around, and as a result, we end up going down the same old road, and doing the same old thing(s). God requires the following:
When we pray, we must pray in confidence that God not only heard us, but will answer our prayer.
In closing, Pastor George said that faith is acting AND believing BEFORE you see it. Then, when the storm comes up, you can run forward confidently, forgetting that which is behind. Don't let the spirit of unbelief shut the door on your prayers.
Quote of the sermon:
“God wants us to rise to the occassion."
"The reason you can't get it is because of your unbelief.” - Pastor George Dix Jr.
Hebrews 4:14-16 ; 10:19-21,23,35,36
As disciples we must remember that God's word is not changed by our circumstances or by what others have said and we must trust God in the good and in the bad. Pastor George Dix Jr. said as believers in Christ that we must always ask ourselves
As we endure our tests and trials, we must not allow these things to move us from our profession of faith. When we hold fast to our profession of faith, we then know:
"...that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose" - Romans 8:28
During our storms, we must be steadfast and unmoveable. This allows God to dwell in our tabernacle. In the good fight, we must not cast away our confidence, but we should be reassured that God is going to move in our favor. We may not know how or when, but God will do it. The same God that saved Israel is the same God that wants to dwell within us! Within YOUR tabernacle.
In God's word, He reminds us that He wants to dwell in our tabernacle. God chose Israel to be His people, and gave us access to Him. Moses built the tabernacle. He roped off a special place where people could see God. "I am in the tabernacle." God walked with Adam in the Garden of Eden (the garden being the tabernacle). We must remember that God is never too high or too far away that He can't come down to dwell in our new tabernacle (within us). We need to have a tabernacle experience with God.
In closing, Pastor George referred to John 3:16. If we come to God through Jesus, we will not perish. Through Jesus, God gives us access to Him.
Quote of the sermon:
“God wants to give us access to Him.... He's not just some any-ole'-body! ” - Pastor George Dix Jr.
Exodus 25: 8-9
I Corinthians 3:16-17
Pastor Dix advised the congregation that there isn’t one area in our lives that we can afford to excuse God from. We must realize that had it not been for God breathing life into our souls, we could do absolutely nothing. Often times believers become so bogged down in the cares of life that we often ignore the voice of God, and as a result we end up in a quandary that leads us down our own path instead of the road that God wants us to travel. As diplomats of Christ we have to remember that whatever God creates, He also sustains! Pastor reminded the congregation that our sin keeps us from drawing close to God and that same sin causes God to stand back from us. The Word clearly states that sin stinks in the nostrils of God.
As we go about our daily routine of work, school, caregivers and students, we must always know that we were created to be a reflection of God’s personality and character in the earth. And as we seek to become more like Christ, we must desire a tabernacle experience. When God instructed Moses to build Him a tabernacle (portable tent that was a place of worship), He specifically instructed Moses on the types of material He wanted used to build this sacred place. God specified the types of treasured linen He wanted used in the courtyards and on the altar; He only wanted beautiful wood to be covered in precious gold. This illustration alone teaches us that God wants our first and He wants our best!
In closing, Pastor Dix said God wanted Moses to build a tabernacle, so that the Israelites would have a place to come and receive a Word from God. Even today, Jesus wants our bodies to be tabernacles so that everywhere we go God would be with us and we can receive of Him.
Quote of the sermon:
“God's 'hand is not shortened, that it cannot save; neither his ear heavy, that it cannot hear!' ” - Pastor George Dix Jr.
